I finally got a chance to meet the man himself last spring at the Yard Sale of the Century. Big sale, lots of cool stuff, great guy, cute dog. Tons of respect for what he’s doing. Thanks, Mr. D., for “keeping it real” and “sharing it with the rest of us”.
Meet Feltron, best known for his meticulous (and beautiful) annual reports, which are a visual guide to the number and kind of drinks he had in the last year (among other things). His latest project, Daytum, gifts this kind of lovely record-keeping of minutiae to the rest of us. In his spare time, Felton runs Megafone. Could he be any more perfect? Sigh.
Manuel Lima is the founder of Visual Complexity, a “comprehensive repository of complex network visualizations,” or in other terms, a collection of beautiful ways to see and understand data. These information maps often result in breathtaking forms that are visually arresting even when disassociated from the data they represent. The idea for the site was born during his MFA studies in design and technology at Parson’s School of Design, where he also created his thesis project, Blogviz. Lima is currently Senior User Experience Designer at Nokia’s Service & UI Design (SUID) team.
