Yesterday I had the pleasure of meeting with Joe Girard, a professional chef and CEO of Rouxbe. Rouxbe is a virtual cooking school with an ingenious modular content structure and a serious commitment to user experience. Content can be custom packaged for any of Rouxbe’s brand partners, or even tailored at the individual user level. User-submitted content is filtered through a community feedback system, with the best content rising to the level of “Rouxbe Certified”. Each lesson or recipe can be further broken down using expertise “drill downs” accessible only if you need them. Cooking lessons offer ingredient histories along with science-based explanations for ingredient behaviors. Check out a free lesson, or follow Rouxbe on their community blog or on Twitter. An intriguing business model along with attention to visual and experience design details makes Joe a visionary and Rouxbe a true jem.
