Immaterial: Emily Endo
Bullseye Projects, Portland, Oregon, 2019
A solo exhibition by Emily Endo exploring the body, fluidity, purification, and beauty.
In my recent work, the fragmented body, beautification, and corporeal self-expression intersect with fantasy and idealized representations of the female body, creating references to ancient and modern rituals of purification as a means to simultaneously celebrate the body and transcend its materiality. – Emily Endo
An interactive scent station with glass funnels holding five unique scents. A numbering system allowed visitors to first experience each scent without context, then respond and view the response of others, and finally seek out historical and botanical information provided by the artist.
